Why do you support the work of The Entrepreneurs Network?
I support the work of The Entrepreneurs Network because of the significant impact it has had on the UK's startup ecosystem, a sentiment deeply rooted in my first encounter with Philip at a London & Partners event in 2017. Since then, I've closely followed his efforts to empower entrepreneurs across the UK, consistently showcasing the transformative power of vision, dedication, and consistency in making a tangible difference in people's lives.
The Entrepreneurs Network provides crucial support to entrepreneurs and also plays a vital role as a bridge between politicians and the business community. This function is particularly critical, considering that entrepreneurs are the lifeblood of the UK economy. By supporting startups, The Entrepreneurs Network not only sustains current employment but also seeds the creation of future job opportunities. Thus, my support for their work stems from a profound appreciation for their ongoing contribution to economic growth and innovation in the UK.
What research should more people read (either our research or other organisations)?
I firmly believe that globalisation is indispensable for startups worldwide. At NBT, we are committed to this vision by offering workshops and mentorships through UK institutions such as Grow London and the UK Export Academy, assisting UK businesses in their global expansion efforts. Additionally, we operate international accelerators, like Innogate, to facilitate the entry of international startups into the UK market. In this vein, it's critical that more reports are read and produced to explore how the UK supports the globalization of international startups and how UK startups can themselves achieve global reach. Understanding the policies, initiatives, and strategies fundamental to these processes is key to fully leveraging globalization's potential to drive startup growth and innovation across borders.
Why is the UK an attractive place to grow a business?
The UK is an attractive destination for business growth, thanks to its strategic location offering easy access to European and global markets and its standing as one of the world's largest and most stable economies. It is renowned for its vibrant innovation ecosystem, underpinned by world-class research institutions and a highly skilled and educated workforce
