The UK Space Sector has seen good start-up creation over the last few years. With the development of the National Space Strategy, and opportunities ahead, we have the need and opportunity to consider what we can do differently to achieve greater success.
The discussion will be framed around three main sections:
Barriers: What barriers currently hold back the creation of more startups and the scaling of those that already exist?
Funding: Where are the pinch points for funding? Is later stage funding the main problem? Are there opportunities to reduce bureaucracy?
Government: Is there more that government can do to support innovation in the sector, or things that government can do differently? What is its role as a customer?
This roundtable will be limited to around 24 guests. Attendees’ insights will go into drafting the questions for a Call for Evidence, which will be used to create a briefing paper to inform policymakers.
The report will be distributed to all MPs and Peers in the House of Commons and Lords. It will also be sent to key civil servants in the relevant Government Departments and shared more broadly to influencers.
