Something Ventured: Sharon Vosmek, CEO, Astia

Multiple pieces of research have shown that the most impactful high-growth companies are the ones with diverse and inclusive leadership teams — yet only three per cent of VC investment goes to female-led companies. Astia invests, advises, and partners to level the investment playing field. It has so far made more than 120 investments, with more than $27 million directly invested and more than $450 million invested in syndicate through its Astia Angels network. It has had eight exits to date.

This interview will consider:

  • Tackling the gender gap in VC funding;

  • Why startups with diverse founding/leadership teams achieve better results;

  • The importance of recognising and encouraging diversity in startup leadership beyond just gender.

This is the inaugural interview in the Something Ventured series. In partnership with FieldHouse Associates, we are interviewing leading VCs via Zoom about the key issues around investment. After the opening 15 minutes, attendees will have the opportunity to ask questions.

FieldHouse Associates helps organisations across the fast-growth technology, innovation, and investment ecosystem achieve their strategic and commercial objectives, creating impact for them through bespoke integrated communications campaigns.

This event is for our Advisers, and Supporters. Entrepreneurs can also attend a trial of these without being an Adviser or Supporter. Please email events@tenentrepreneurs.org to register your interest.
