Something Ventured: Ian McLennan, Partner, Triple Point

Join us to hear Ian McLennan of Triple Point talk about knowledge intensive emerging digital and data insights, back office innovations, and valuations.

Environment

In particular knowledge intensive emerging digital and data insights:

(i) NatureMetrics have added databases on biodiversity using DNA samples to identify which organisms are present in a location before and after construction projects.

(ii) Sward, helps farmers by assisting them with monitoring, recording, verifying and selling carbon credits.

Back Office Innovation

Triple Point has recently backed Konfir and Veremark, both of which help to automate employee reference checks of various kinds. In Healthtech, Triple Point has companies like Credentially, which eases the pain of document checking for hiring locum/clinicians and also for ensuring they remain compliant with professional and insurer standards.

Valuations

Valuations are down for listed Tech, such as ARKK Innovation and listed Saas companies, but not yet at Seed Stage and maybe not at Series A Venture valuations, although this will likely change.

Ian McLennan is a Partner at Triple Point, responsible for the Venture team. He brings his 33 years of investment experience to bear in all aspects of managing Triple Point’s Venture Fund VCT and Impact EIS Service. Ian is a CFA charter holder and chaired CFA UK’s working group on how negative interest rates impact investors.

In partnership with FieldHouse Associates, Something Ventured are virtual interviews with leading VCs about the key issues around investment.
