This virtual roundtable will consider how the government can improve the way it supports SMEs. This is part of our Small Business Forum that we run with Enterprise Nation.
Attendee's views will feed into our report.
The discussion will focus on these two main issues:
Because the process is time-consuming, difficult to navigate, and relies on specialist knowledge of how the different processes work, government procurement is often biased towards big players. This is bad for SMEs and bad for the government too. How can we increase competitiveness for government contracts by making it easier for SMEs to submit bids?
Government often has an imperfect view of what small businesses want. How can we improve the ways in which government communicates with small businesses to give entrepreneurs more of a voice and generally improve the policy-making process?
