The Entrepreneurs Network, in association with Young Enterprise, will be holding a discussion on the topic of applied learning in schools, based on our new paper on the subject, What Applied Learning Really Looks Like.
When young people don't understand the relevance of what they learn in school to their future careers and lives, they can become disengaged from education. Applied learning seeks to solve this issue, by simulating real-life contexts for young people, also emphasising the relevance of what is being taught. It boosts their confidence, appears to improve their academic results, and prepares them for the world beyond school.
The research, by Anton Howes, presents several successful case studies and offers concrete examples for teachers, headteachers, and policy-makers interested in implementing applied learning more widely in schools. Please get in touch with us about joining our discussion on this important topic. We will discuss:
the benefits of using applied learning in schools
what best-practice really looks like
the challenges of implementing applied learning more widely
the things that policymakers can do to support it
