Developments such as AI, automation, and the need to decarbonise the economy – among others – have created gaps in the labour market. With demand for workers in STEM-related, healthcare, and other high-skill professions predicted to rise, Europe will require up to 12 million people to re-skill to support the ‘next industrial revolution’.
At this new frontier, innovation and entrepreneurship will be key. A recent analysis by QS found that UK higher education is currently one of the world’s best for providing students with the future skills needed by business and industry. This makes the UK well-placed to lead in Europe and beyond.
In this virtual roundtable, academics and founders will exchange ideas on nurturing an entrepreneurial culture within UK universities. Among other experts, we will hear from Raphael Dennett, Deputy Director of the University of Exeter’s Centre for Entrepreneurship, and Adviser to The Entrepreneurs Network, alongside Mark Thompson, Professor of Digital Economy at The University of Exeter.
We’ve already published a number of papers on this policy area. The aim of this event is to identify what more needs to be done to ensure Britain is able to capitalise on its advantages and fulfil the emerging need for global leadership on entrepreneurship education.
This event is for academics with a focus on entrepreneurship, and founders and investors of UK-based companies.
