Mental health is a challenge for the majority of Britain’s entrepreneurs. Over half of entrepreneurs have suffered anxiety or panic attacks, nearly 7 in 10 report sleep problems, and 53% of founders say that building their business has been one of the toughest times of their lives.
This All-Party Parliamentary Group for Entrepreneurship event will consider the scope of the challenge and what role government could and should have in supporting entrepreneurs and their employees.

Guy Tolhurst launched Intelligent Partnership 10 years ago after seeing great opportunities to better serve investment providers, financial advisers and wealth managers across a diverse range of investment strategies and sectors. Intelligent Partnership has naturally evolved into an award-winning and trusted provider of accredited research, events, insights and education on a range of alternative investments. Guy is an Adviser to The Entrepreneurs Network.
As reported in a recent Courier article, while putting together his book, 100 Stories of Growth, he “noticed that most of his interviews with founders touched on the pressures of taking on investment.”
“‘You don’t want to show a lack of confidence to your team because they might leave. Speaking to [investors] shows a lack of confidence. Unfortunately the culture of some investors is quite a disposable culture as well – they might replace the founder CEO. You are suffering in silence,’ Tolhurst explains.”
“Tolhurst is currently lobbying investors to adopt the ‘Mindful Investor’ framework he developed, where investors agree to support and monitor the health and wellbeing of founders in their portfolio companies. So far over 20 investment firms have signed up to the framework, including several prominent London VCs.”
