    • Leap 100 Power Breakfast with Charlie Mowat, Founder, The Clean Space

Wednesday, October 5, 2016 Mishcon de Reya, 70 Kingsway London

      Learning to Let Go

Charlie is the founder and Managing Director of The Clean Space, a commercial cleaning company based on the principles of fair treatment for its staff rather than the exploitation often seen in the industry. He’s an Oxford Graduate with three years’ experience at a Management Consultancy before founding The Clean Space.

Two years ago, as the business was growing past the point where he could lead the business on his own, Charlie established a Senior Management Team. Making this change presented huge challenges for Charlie personally as he navigated the change required in himself to let go of the day-to-day.

In this Leap 100 Breakfast, Charlie will give insight to these challenges, the techniques and skills he developed to manage himself and how he finally properly let the team get on with their jobs.

Leap 100 Power Breakfast with Tim Warrillow, Co-Founder, Fever-Tree

Wednesday, August 3, 2016 Mishcon de Reya, London

Just the Tonic: Premiumisation of a Stagnant Industry

Following a ‘tonic tasting’ on the US market, Charles Rolls – who built his reputation running Plymouth Gin – joined forces with Tim Warrillow, who had a background in luxury food marketing, to analyse the composition of mixers. They discovered that the majority were preserved with sodium benzoate or similar substances, while cheap orange aromatics such as decanal and artificial sweeteners (such as saccharin) were widespread.

And so started a 15 month journey. Days in the British Library researching quinine sources from as far back as 1620, trips to find the purest strains of this key ingredient and 5 iterations of the recipe were tasted before Charles and Tim were happy with the result and the first bottle of Fever-Tree Indian Tonic Water was produced in 2005.
